I recall a similar device when I was a child, but it either had lost, or never had a cover over the chain, and things got caught in it regularly.

These can be found much cheaper.  They aren’t in as good of condition, but they’re complete enough for the kid to have an awesome time peddling them around.  I’ve seen decent “drivers” for around a hundred.

Eh, maybe I’m jaded from watching Pawn Stars and American Restoration (the real version, with Rick Dale), but $350 seems about right in that condition.
